Para obtener una geometría más precisa es necesario el replanteo sobre el terreno de las líneas límite, lo que generalmente es factible partiendo de la documentación técnica (cuaderno topográfico de campo) y jurídica (acta de deslinde) con la que figura inscrita cada una de ellas en el Registro Central de Cartografía de la Dirección General del Instituto Geográfico Nacional. Además, esta geometría más precisa, ha de ser refrendada jurídicamente por los propios Ayuntamientos mediante el levantamiento de actas conjuntas, adicionales a las utilizadas para el replanteo, conforme a los procedimientos administrativos establecidos en la legislación aplicable en cada caso.
